#27 Kvartyrnyk with Ostap Ukrainets: Identity

Kvartyrnyk #27 welcomes Ostap Ukrainets, one of the most compelling voices in contemporary Ukrainian literature and culture.

A writer, translator and founder of Tvoya Pidpilna Humanitarka (Underground Humanities), he has done much to bring language, identity and decolonisation into public conversation in today's Ukraine. Over the evening we will talk about the role of culture in wartime, historical memory, Russian propaganda, and the way narratives shape a society.

The evening includes:

• a conversation with Ostap Ukrainets
• Ostap's book signing and sale
• an auction in support of the 95th Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where Ostap serves
• the Kvartyrnyk library of Ukrainian and Swedish books, part of our bookcrossing initiative

Ostap is in Sweden for the Gothenburg Book Fair, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Institute.
